Day 109 - Monday 6th July
At least last night's physical exertion gave me a good night's sleep! I got about 5 hours in one go, then slept again until the alarm went off for work. I'm working from home today but before I start I get one load of washing done for my friend, and start another off. Many of her things got soaked in the flood, with water of dubious cleanliness.
Coronavirus news is that three of the pubs that opened on Saturday have had to close again because customers have reported coronavirus symptoms; they are now having to contact all their customers to warn them to quarantine. And in Australia the state of Victoria has been put on lockdown because of a spike in cases in Melbourne and surrounding areas. I'm not surprised; this is precisely why I'm not keen to start mixing in large groups again.
It's a busy day for both hubby and me now that we are both working. A lot of time is taken up with calls on Zoom or Teams. I'm still having trouble getting my laptop set up properly so I have to switch between that and my home PC so that the IT team can remotely access it. I'm not entirely confident they know what they are doing. Hubby has suggested they delete my user account and start again.
Around lunchtime my son reminds me he has friends coming round and I quickly assemble some lunch before they get here. They meet on the veranda which is adjacent to the room where hubby works; he ends up taking a call in the hall because they are pretty loud. Given this is all the social life our son gets at the moment I'm glad to hear him having fun. They pop out for a while and then move to the back of the house where it's sunnier; his friends are here until dark and he and his girlfriend aren't hungry so I save their dinner for them. While I'm cooking I prepare a moussaka for tomorrow; I have to go to the office and I'm not sure how much time I'll have to cook.
Hubby and I try to watch The Mandalorean on Disney Plus using my son's girlfriend's account but there's no app on our TV and the laptop is not compatible to play through it. It looks like his new tablet will work but we watch Luminaries instead. It's beautifully filmed but the storyline is becoming increasingly far-fetched - the number of coincidences is just too ridiculous. I'm exhausted so I'd watch anything just to switch my brain off.
Tonight I am grateful for my son getting to see his friends.
